Kathmandu, 17 November: TikTok, a social network, has written a letter to the Nepal Telecommunication Authority objecting to its ban in Nepal.
In the letter, TikTok stated that it has been working in coordination with different Nepal government agencies.
TikTok has also stated that it has removed objectionable videos and is listed in the taxpayers’ list in Nepal, according to the rule introduced by the Nepal government.
It made clear that 2.9 million 80 thousand videos had been removed according to the Nepal government’s instructions.
The ban on TikTok has been welcomed by mainstream media in Nepal as it is an instant source of information. Accordingly, those political leaders in the government and opposition parties faced heavy criticism due to their involvement in corruption scams.
TikTok also became the voice of the voiceless people in society as the mainstream media discriminated against news in their vested interests.
