A referendum on King or President!

Kathmandu, 25 October: Yesterday (24 October), on the main day of Tika, illegally dethroned King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, and President Ramchandra Paudel offered Tika to the people. 

At the Sittal Niwas, the senior government officials’ crowd was witnessed as it was mandatory for them to receive Tika from the President. On the other hand, thousands of commoners gathered to receive Tika from King Gyanendra at his private residence, Nirmal Niwas. 

Rabindra Mishra, senior vice chairman of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, said that he had to wait for three hours to receive Tika from King Gyanendra. 

Laxman Ghimire, former Minister and NC leader, comparing the crowd at the Sital Niwas and Nirmal Niwas, said that it is a referendum on whether people chose a king or a president.
