Kathmandu, 15 July: A group of people campaigning for the legalization of marijuana farming organized a demonstration in Kathmandu today.
The demonstration was organized coinciding with five decades of banning marijuana farming in Nepal under pressure from the USA.
The campaigners say that even in the USA, in many states, the use of marijuana has been permitted, however, under American pressure, marijuana farming is banned.
They also demanded compensation for banning marijuana farming.
Nepal has a favorable climate for marijuana farming, and campaigners advocate that our farmers’ lifestyle can be uplifted and also the nation can become prosperous from marijuana farming. Different countries have permitted marijuana farming as raw materials for different types of drugs.
