BABBLES

It seems, our Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal is naive about foreign policy sensitivity. In the course of replying to the queries made by the members of parliament regarding the government policy and programme, PM Dahal informed the Parliament that the Chinese Ambassador here advised him not to visit Boao Forum for Asia Conference viewing political ups and downs at home.
It is a nonsense idea that how can the foreign envoy who is inviting a guest for a visit to his country say for not visiting his country?
An envoy has to extend the invitation to the guest according to his government’s decision and coordinate for making success the visit.
Unfortunately, in the process of misinforming Parliament, PM Dahal didn’t miss dragging the Chinese envoy, which is a serious diplomatic blunder committed by PM Dahal.
Later, according to reports, last Thursday, Chinese Ambassador Chen Song met Prime Minister in Baluwatar and objected to his statement in the House about the reason for not participating in the Boao Forum.
PM Dahal had said to the Parliament that he did not participate in the Boao Forum at the request of the Chinese ambassador. PM Dahal proved him a liar.
Leader centric “loktantra”

The Information and Communication Department, a government organ, has published the calendar for Nepali Year 2080. The calendar published by spending the government fund covers photographs of the present in the government.
Odd to note, although the leaders say the present system is a “loktantra” (people’s rule) there is no single photograph of the general public. We could be satisfied if there were some photographs of the development activities in the country on the calendar.
This proves that the shortsighted political leaders are happy to hang their own photographs on the calendar or say, this is a leader-centric political system.
“Ham Sab Chor Hhein”
There is a popular saying in the Hindi language, “Ham Sab Chor Hein” (We all are thieves). In the name of loktantra, the leaders are practising daylight loot in the country. Therefore, loktantra has become synonymous with loot-tantra.
Look at the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, many top-brass political leaders and bureaucrats have been involved in sending Nepali citizens to the USA guise of Bhutanese refugees.
If conducted free and fair investigation, many other leaders will come under the net. Former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, his wife Dr Arzu Deuba, Balkrishna Khand’s wife Manju Khand, former home minister Rambahadur Thapa and many other leaders cannot escape from the scam. Accordingly, K.P. Sharma Oli is seen as associated with the scam as his aides have also received cash collected from the victims.
When Resham Chaudhary convicted as a murderer by the Court has been freed from jail following a pardon from the President after a cabinet decision, it makes much clear the saying, Ham Sab Chor Hein!”
Loktantra for three leaders only
We talk about huge structures – federal government, seven provincial governments and 753 local bodies – under the present loktantra but the three leaders – Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal, his ally in the government Sher Bahadur Deuba, and K.P. Sharma Oli, leader of the main opposition party are all in all.
The three leaders are performing the role of executive, legislative and judiciary in the country. There is a Parliament but it is under the grip of the said three leaders. There is the court but it is also under the grip of the three leaders. The three leaders are sharing the power through Bhagbanda. They quarrel against each other but remain together on the issue of sharing power.
Indian ill-intention
India has placed a map of India at the main building of the newly constructed Parliament in New Delhi. On that map, Nepal’s Kapilvastu and Lumbini are also included. This reflects the ill intention of the Indians against Nepal.
Will PM Dahal, who is on a visit to India, protest against such ill intentions of India?
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
- The upcoming movement will not be a street movement like before. The next movement will be against paying taxes, pen down, and not inviting those corrupt people to social programs. Now there are no stone-pelting politics like Gagan Thapa, Ramkumari, and Mahesh Basnet were doing in the past.

- There exists an argument that India has not allowed new sky routes as the newly built airports in Pokhara and Bhairahawa were constructed by Chinese contractors and Pokhara Airport was built with Chinese investment.

- The activity of selling sand, gravel and stones to India by exploiting Chure Hill should be stopped immediately. This activity will turn the Tarai into a desert.

- Three years ago, I asked the government not to accept the MCC as it is dangerous for the country, its army may enter the country and our country may become alike Afghanistan and Syria. I had said that they exploit uranium. Their focus is on China. Now, why are they allowed to bring the army and weapons and other mining machines to Nepal? In 2001, a proposal was presented to pass from the LDCs’ summit in Brussels, Belgium, for keeping the donor country’s army for security while giving development aid to LDCs. I protested saying that this should not be discussed there. At that time, I was the chief of the UN division in the Foreign Ministry.

- What is the significance of the Parliament if the parties’ supreme leaders enjoy the power of the Parliament to suit their selfish interests? The sovereignty of the country is in the parliament or under the leadership of the limited parties? Let’s have a serious debate on this and other issues that weaken the parliament. A strong, not weak, parliament is the main foundation of democracy.

- A high-level visit to India can be considered successful only if India accepts Nepal’s legitimate rights to air routes. As a neighbour, India shouldn’t leverage this to fulfill sundry political interests.

- Even though Maoists have created terror, destruction, looting and killing in the country for ten years, they are leading the government many times now. Resham Chaudhary led a mob, which killed minors and security personnel on duty by using Bhala (large knife). The court gave a verdict of life imprisonment to Chaudhary. But the government gave pardon and he is released. The decision reflects the government’s real appearance.

- Nepal’s universities are responsible for forcing students to leave the country after class 12. Political parties are responsible for the destruction of universities. Political parties’ statutes are responsible for the destruction of the parties. Illetrate party workers are responsible for anarchist party leadership. Illetrate party workers are the result of wrong educational policy. To break this circle, we need visionary political leaders.

- The mass exodus of youth as migrant labour and ‘students’ is enough to prove how great the republic is doing. Not to mention the scandals and corruption cases that get exposed every day, including the latest in which the leaders of the republic have brought so much glory to the country.
