Above 3,000 youth fly abroad everyday seeking jobs

As the country lacks job opportunities for the youth, almost three thousand youth fly overseas in search of jobs every day.

The number of youths fleeing the country has increased in recent months, and it is evident from the fact that the number of youth seeking approval for foreign employment increased by 54. 3 per cent in the first eight months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Nepal Rastra Bank data of the past eight months of the current fiscal year (FY), Nepali workers taking approval for foreign employment increased by 54.3 per cent 351,171 in the review period. Similarly, the number of Nepali workers (Renew entry) taking approval for foreign employment increased by 8.0 per cent to 192,559 in the review period.

Likewise, Remittance increased by 25.3 per cent in NPR terms and 14.8 per cent in USD terms. The increase in remittance itself proved that more Nepalis are flying abroad as migrant workers.

According to the Nepal Rastra Bank data for the past eight months, the remittance inflow increased by 25.3 per cent to Rs 794.32 billion in the review period up from Rs 633.9 billion recorded in the same period of the previous FY.

With this rise, the remittance inflow increased by 14.8 per cent to USD 6.09 billion in the review period. In the same period of the previous FY, the US dollar recorded USD 5.3 billion.
