Tourism Minister’s vested interest to collapse national flag carrier

By Our Reporter

Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Jeevanram Shrestha, who was dragged into controversy for punishing a security guard, a lower graded staff under a private security company, is learnt to have been conspiring to shut down national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation.

The Minister is learnt to have been responsible for the grounding of the two Airbus aircraft in international service as he had instructed not to attend the meeting of the board of directors of those officials under his influence.

For maintenance of the engine of the grounded aircraft as earliest as possible by avoiding other lengthy proceedings, the Corporation board meeting can allow the management for immediate maintenance of the aircraft but the Minister is learnt to have said to the government representatives under him to perform non-cooperation to the present executive chairman who is working in the Airline through an interim court verdict of the Supreme Court after the government terminated him illegally.

The Minister is learnt to have said that even if the Airline will face a loss and go bankrupt, don’t cooperate with the present executive chairman. The Minister and his party, Unified Socialist want to assign another executive chairman by ousting the present executive chairman. The motive behind assigning the new executive chairman is guided by making the Airline a milking cow for the party.

With such ministers and parties in the government concerned only with extorting money, it is sure an untimely death of the Airline which was in profit even during the time they blame an “autocratic monarchial rule”.
