People’s Review enters 32 years: Mission Save Nepal

Editor and Publisher’s Note

Mission: Save Nepal!

By P.R. Pradhan

It is our eminence pleasure to inform our readers and well-wishers that we have completed a journey of 31 years and have started the travel for 32 years.

We were publishing a vernacular weekly Samrachana which had already completed 12 years of publication, in the meantime, we thought, there was a lack of newspapers disseminating the patriotic Nepali’s voice to the foreigners. The nation had just adopted a multiparty democracy and we saw mounting foreign interference within the country. Hence, we decided to fight against such intimidation although we were alone. A small team of those patriotic journalists was developed spontaneously. We then launched People’s Review English weekly by stopping our vernacular weekly as we were unable to bear the expenditure of two publications at once.

Veteran journalist M.R. Josse joined our team and introduced the motto “Let Nepal Be Nepal” and “Say No to Foreign Interference and Intimidation” which appeared on the masthead of our Weekly.

In the course of bringing out the Weekly, Nepal’s noted journalists M.R. Josse, Shrish Rana, late Kishori Raman Rana, late Barbara Adams, Prof. Dr Shashi Pratap Bam Malla, late Bhola Rana, Jan Sharma, late Ram Pradhan, Professor P. Kharel, Narendra Upadhyaya (Aryal) Lok Deep Thapa, Sunil KC, Bijaya Kumar Aryal, Ramchandra Gautam, Ajaya Bhadra Khanal, my spouse late Jasuda Pradhan and my kids Pujab and Punjita, among others, have made their remarkable contribution giving a new height to the newspaper. Maybe, I might have forgotten the other contributors, I beg pardon for it.

Certainly, the anti-current journey is a difficult task, nevertheless, we have accomplished the travel of 31 years.

Surely, we cannot please all always. When we advocate Nepali interests, a section may hate us but we don’t mind as our patriotic readers have always commended us for our job. Due to their moral support, we are here today.

Since the nation adopted a multiparty democracy and now loktantra, we have remained as a watchdog lauding against all types of anomalies and the present loot-tantra. We are for the independence, sovereignty, and indivisibility of the nation. We are for good governance, corruption control and rule of law and we are always against the present perversion that existed in all the organs.

We believe that federalism, secularism and republicanism cannot save Nepal, therefore, we want the removal of such a system imposed by foreigners which have become a white elephant for Nepal. Our mission thus is for saving our motherland!

Finally, on the occasion of the completion of the 31 years of publication, we wish to extend our special thanks to all our valued readers, advertisers, friends, well-wishers and contributors for their remarkable support of our mission! We wish to receive their continued support in the days to come.
