Saying no to party journalists?

BABBLES

By Babbler

Astonished from a circular issued by the Federation of Nepalis Journalists (FNJ) that the journalists should not take part in the activities of the political parties. FNJ had warned to take action against those who are active in party politics.

In the last election of the journalists, we are aware that journalists associated with mainly the three political parties led by Prime Minister and NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba, Unified Socialist Party chair Madhav Nepal and Maoist Center chair Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda had given common candidature against the UML’s candidates. Finally, the common candidates occupied all the posts by defeating the UML’s candidates.

We all know, the present FNJ president is from the Press Union affiliated with the Nepali Congress.

When journalists affiliated with different political parties are allowed to take part in the FNJ election, why the restriction from becoming active in the party? Perhaps, this is just a showing tooth of FNJ!

UML’s plan for counter impeachment

Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda said that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is against registering impeachment against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

Deuba had, perhaps, negotiated with CJ Rana through his party colleague Gajendra Bahadur Hamal, a relative of CJ Rana for a “match-fixing” on the court verdict in favour of Deuab and the five-party alliance.

That is why Hamal was appointed the minister, however, later, he quit the post after protest from all sides.

Deuba also didn’t listen to Madhav Nepal to file an impeachment case against Rana. It seems Rana is safe now.

Meanwhile, UML leaders are discussing filing impeachment against all the five judges who gave the verdict against the UML government.

If the impeachment is filed against all the five judges representing the constitutional bench, immediately, they will be suspended. Even if the House will not be able to endorse the impeachment with a majority, on moral grounds, the judges should quit the job.

If such a development will take place, it would help to clean the court partially. To clean the judiciary totally, all those judges appointed on the basis of their political beliefs should be terminated.

Also, the Bar Association should not be allowed to dictate the Court. Otherwise, the court will continue to remain a dirty place.

Yet another setting

UML chair K.P. Sharma Oli has claimed that the Court judges have fixed yet another match for cancelling all the constitutional appointments done by the previous government led by him after removing Chief Justice Cholendra S Rana.

At a meeting with the Bar Association members’ delegation on Tuesday, Oli said that the demand for removing CJ Rana of the Bar Association is justifiable by just 20%. If the Bar will demand removing all the five judges who represented the constitutional bench, then only the demand will become 100% complete.

The match-fixing will plan will also be failed, said Oli.

Last week, at a meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, a senior advocate of Nepal, Shambhu Thapa confirmed that Deuba’s appointment as the PM was possible only after replacing the two judges with the new two judges in the constitutional bench under the effort of the latter.

This is the state of Nepali judiciary!

Let’s try to respect the decision of the cadres. In a democracy, it is a great thing to respect the result of a referendum. Voting is a personal wish. The king must not have had the opportunity to whisper in everyone’s ears. It may not be appropriate to bring the king into unnecessary controversy.
