Kathmandu, 15 July: Despite weeks-long efforts from the second-generation leaders in the UML for keeping the party united, the enmity between two towering leaders chairman K.P. Sharma Oli and Madhav Nepal has been further intensified.
On Wednesday, after reaching Balkot, Oli’s private residence from Baluatar, the official residence of the prime minister, Oli, addressing the party workers, blamed Nepal as a traitor of the party and added that there is no space for the latter in the UML.
Oli said that Nepal had played a leading role to topple down the UML government and the formation of the NC led government.
This is a message that the UML is on the verge of a split.
Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda and Nepal held an hours-long meeting. It is assumed that they discussed contemporary political development. Of late, Nepal has developed a mood to quit the UML party and form a new party by incorporating different small leftist parties.
It is also speculated on possible unification between the Maoist Center and Nepal faction in the UML in another party name.
