Kathmandu, 10 July: The task force for keeping the UML united has already drafted the points of agreement between Prime Minister and UML chairman K.P. Sharma Oli and senior leader Madhav Nepal.
The members from the Nepal faction in the task force have given stress on the power-sharing mechanism along with the “one person one post” policy demanding Oli’s resignation from anyone posts.
Moreover, the Nepal camp has demanded the provision of the two senior leaders’ signature in taking any decision by the party.
The Oli camp has given stress on withdrawing the signature of the UML MPs from the writ petition registered in the Supreme Court.
Madhav Nepal has already made clear that his team will not withdraw signatures from the writ petition. Nepal has made clear that he is not going to influence the upcoming decision of the Court.
Similarly, Oli is not willing to quit any one of the two posts – either the PM or the party chairman.
Clearly, Oli has performed flexibility just to withdraw signatures from the writ petition. After the court will give a verdict, more likely on 12 July, the value of the Nepal camp will turn down to zero for Oli.
In the meantime, on 10 July, Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda visited Madhav Nepal’s residence in Koteshwor. It is said that they discussed strengthening the united front led by Sher Bahadur Deuba.
When both the leaders are not ready to respond to each other’s concerns, it seems difficult to expect a unity statement soon.
