On the first day the government lifted the restriction imposed on the movements of public vehicles, the country saw more new COVID-19 cases than the recoveries, thereby increasing the number of active cases.
The active COVID-19 cases which were recorded at 25,690 on Monday climbed to 25, 828 on Tuesday. Until a week ago, the active cases were 37,950 and they were gradually declining.
However, they climbed on the first day the government further relaxed the restriction allowing all vehicles to ply on the road.
With rising cases, the ICUs and hospital beds are again filled up with patients.
Intriguingly, the government has reduced the testing over the days, maybe to show a lesser number of cases.
On Tuesday, the government conducted 12, 585 (7,503 PCR and 5,082 antigen) tests while on Monday
According to the MoHP, of the active cases, 2859patients are admitted to various health facilities while the remaining 22,969 are in home isolation.
As per the latest update, 567 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and 171 are under treatment with ventilator support across the nation. However, a fatality has been in decreasing trend with only 15 deaths on Tuesday while 23 deaths were reported on Monday.
