Kathmandu, 19 May: As the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in Nepal at an unprecedented pace, Japan has provided 25 Portable Ultrasound Image Diagnostic Systems to 25 hospitals in Nepal.
Upon handing over the medical equipment to the hospitals, Japanese ambassador Kikuta Yutaka said, “The Ultrasound Image Diagnostic Systems are easy to use and will significantly contribute to the diagnosis of COVID-19 patients”.
While Japan herself keeps fighting the pandemic domestically, she always stands behind Nepal. We will tackle the COVID-19 pandemic together at this critical time, said the ambassador.
Japan has also provided medical equipment such as 25 Blood Gas Analyzers on the grant. Japan is also providing 160 Oxygen Concentrators and 6 ambulances on the grant. Oxygen concentrators will arrive here next month. They will be distributed to 58 hospitals across the nation.
