A Bahraini royal expedition team has successfully conquered Mt Sagarmatha this spring.
The 16-member team led by a member of Bahrain’s royal family Sheikh Mohamed Hamad Mohamed Al Khalifa reached the top of the world’s highest peak on Tuesday morning between 5.30 am to 6.45 am, according to Seven Summit Treks.
With the climb, the team, comprising 13 servicemen of the Bahraini royal guard and defence force and three British nationals, has become the first international expedition to scale Sagarmatha after its height increased to 8848.86 metres.
The team had arrived in Nepal on March 15 hoping to conquer the mountain. This very team had also climbed Mount Lobuche and Mount Manaslu last year.
Meanwhile, on Monday, a team of six Sherpas reached the top of Mount Lhotse at around 6.45 pm. The six were also part of the team that fixed ropes on the top of Sagarmatha on Friday.
