Kathmandu, 6 May: As the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and the local agent of Serum Institute of Life Sciences Private Limited, manufacturer of Covishield vaccine, fail to finalize a commission deal of Rs 350 million, lives of 30 million people have been put in peril and uncertainty in the trying of time of Covid-19 pandemic.
The MoHP has claimed that it had initiated the process of procuring 5 million doses of Covishield vaccine from Serum directly but the Nepali agent of it halted the entire process demanding Rs 350 million as commission. Negligence of government in handling pandemic and dally-dallying in vaccine procurement due to commission deal has become headline of almost all media outlets today.
