The man-eating tiger, which was taken under control from Bardiya National Park (BNP), has finally been brought to the Central Zoo in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur.
The 160 kg 10-year-old male tiger, which was taken under control by darting on April 5, was brought to the zoo on Tuesday.
The tiger was captured after it attacked and killed Policeram Tharu, 31, mahout involved in rhino enumeration at Gaidamachan inside the core area of the BNP on Sunday evening. Tharu was in the team of the National Rhinoceros Census Programme-2021.
According to the chief conservation officer at BNP Bishnu Prasad Shrestha, the tiger was taken under control at 8 pm on the same day and was caged.
This year alone, four man-eaters from different parts of Bardiya have been brought under control and one of them has been taken to the Central Zoo.
One was kept in Bardiya, one escaped from the cage in Banke and returned to the forest and another died in the cage because it was old, the park officials said.
In the current fiscal year alone, 10 people have lost their lives due to tiger attacks in Bardiya and Banke.
