Election flavour in media

BABBLES

By Babbler

A section of journalists is in a race of elections taking place soon. Candidates have already started their campaign. As mainstream politics has become expensive, it has also affected the media elections. So far, it is not the concern of the voters but the concern of the candidates.

Journalists should be independent and should not be affiliated with any of the political parties, according to the journalists’ code of conduct. However, we can see journalists under the flag of different political parties, an odd to notice.

Decades ago, on the eve of the 1989 people’s movement, a group of journalists including this babbler had launched a campaign for establishing a professional organization of journalists, by giving birth to the Association of Nepali Journalists after a revolt against the traditional organization.

The late Govinda Biyogi was one among the senior journalists, who had sketched the organizational structure with the idea of representation of the small-scale newspapers, which always played a dynamic role in the country.

Alas, today, by totally discarding the representation of those small-scale newspapers, the new organizational structure has been introduced. Now, avoiding professionalism and discarding an independent mindset, the umbrella organization of the journalists has introduced partisan politics in the organization. No comment!

Names suggested for two NCP factions

Nepali commoners have suggested new names for the two factions of the Nepal Communist Party. They have prescribed the Nepal Comedy Party for the faction led by KP Sharma Oli and the Nepal Comfortable Party for the faction led by Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal. So nice!

After all, the same people are in the race!

All options are opened for a new prime minister to be given by the restored House session. Among the leaders, the possible names of the would-be prime minister are KP Sharma Oli, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Pushpakamal Dahal and Baburam Bhattarai. They all have already been tasted.

The general public wants new faces to see but no chance for them at all!

Quotes of the Week

Corrupt political leaders used the king to restore the erstwhile dissolved House of Representatives, later, they displaced the very king who gave a rebirth to the parliament. That was a conspiracy of leaders to depose the institution illegally.

It has already been 40 years since we have adopted the parliamentary system, which, in the Nepali context, has been proved as a failed system. We cannot make the country prosperous through this system. There is no other way but to end it and make the state independent and move forward for a functional system according to the needs of the Nepalis.

When the auction of the Nepal Political League (NPL) players is taking place? “Comfortable” local agents from both factions are in the race.

Television programmer Bhusan Dahal

Prachanda’s statement for formation of an India comfortable government is serious and objectionable. Whether we need a government favourable for the Nepali people or favourable for India?

Madhu Adhikari

We do not need a leader to form a government comfortable for India, we need a leader to make Nepal and the Nepali people feel comfortable.

Manish Simara

It is unfortunate to call for Indian intervention to success in the agitation and more unfortunate to form a suitable government for India.

Shanta Chaudhary

To whom is Daman Nath Dhungana pleasing by forcing his son-in-law to protest against Pashupatinath from the street and his daughter from the court? Isn’t there any assurance for him becoming the chair of the cabinet like Khilaraj?

Lokbandhu

India wanted to remove Oli because of the new political map of Nepal. The court has supported the Indian plan.

Saru Bharadwaj

This country is run by 6-7 corrupt businessmen behind the scenes. Congress, communists, whoever comes, unscrupulous businessmen are the ones who reach the PM and ministers’ bedroom. While reading news about B&C Medical College, I remembered the statement of police officer Ramesh Kharel.
