The Prachanda-Nepal faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has finalised leadership in 68 districts. The central secretariat of the faction on Monday picked up the district chairpersons and secretaries of the party.
Issuing a statement, the faction informed that the central secretariat had been given the responsibility to fill the vacancies as per the decision of the standing committee meeting held on January 14 and 15.
The faction has also decided on chairperson and secretary of the party committees of Kathmandu and Lalitpur.
Criteria have been set to fill and consolidate the vacancies in the party committee and various sister organizations with 50-50 ratio from both the erstwhile CPN-UML and former CPN-Maoist (Centre).
Earlier, chairmen Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal had signed a nine-point agreement of criteria and basis of filling vacancies of the party committee and sister organisations, on an equal footing.
The erstwhile Maoists are to lead in 35 districts while the erstwhile CPN-UML will lead 33 districts. The leadership in nine districts is yet to be finalised.
