On/Off the Record

There is the wave in all over the country for the restoration of the institution of monarchy and re-declaring Nepal a Hindu nation. A series of protest rallies are being organised in major Tarai cities strongly dominated by elite citizens. More importantly, strong participation of the youths is the uniqueness of the demonstration rallies organised against the present federalism, secularism, and republicanism. In fact, the present protest demonstration is against the 2006 political change and the 2015 constitution of the country.
We are pleased to know that our Nepali youths have become aware of the foreigners’ conspiracy against the nation. Some foreign agents have alleged that the present protest demonstrations as an attempt for a counter-revolution by the “regressive” elements’. They have totally undermined the present protest move saying that restoration of the institution of monarchy is just a dream. Be that as it may, those who are the foreign agents and those, who don’t love this country, are seriously scared from the present move of the patriotic citizens and mostly all patriotic youths to save their motherland from those notorious and evil political leaders.
We believe the present movement is for safeguarding the motherland from destruction; strengthening the sovereignty and independence of our motherland and curbing rampant corruption by introducing rule of law. So far, the present move alone is not enough to achieve the goal of the movement. We see allegation and counter allegation against each other group involved in the movement, which is a hurdle for the success of the movement. First of all, for a noble cause of the movement, one should not oppose other’s contribution, one group should not discard or undermine other groups. Contribution of every citizen and every organization is very important to achieve success.
We must not forget that the 2006 April uprising was a joint movement of the seven parliamentarian parties plus the then Maoists in the insurgency. The uprising was solely sponsored by the Indian establishment and also the European Union. To fight against the joint front of the foreigners, all the patriotic forces have to develop a strong alliance which should be able to bring a big typhoon sweeping all the traitors.
We saw the human sea in Birtamod, Jhapa, electoral constituency of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, against the present perversion in the country. We saw a massive demonstration in the capital city; we saw a massive demonstration in Chitwan, the electoral constituency of co-chairman of the ruling party Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda. People were gathered spontaneously as there was no organization to sponsor them.
The message is that the 2015 constitution was promulgated without people’s consent. Above 90 percent of the Nepali citizens were against converting Nepal, Hindu nation into a secular nation. They had opposed federalism and republicanism. Some foreign agents in the then parliament had conspired the entire nation by imposing the foreign agendas. Within five years of promulgation of the constitution, such a huge human sea has been witnessed in different cities. This is itself a referendum on the present constitution.
If the stakeholders of the present constitution want a peaceful solution of the present political mess, please be ready to amend the constitution by recognizing the Hindu nation, restoring the institution of monarchy and scrapping the provincial structure only by recognizing the powerful central parliament and also powerful local bodies. If the stakeholders are not ready to respond to the present protest against the constitution, the mob can become violent anytime.
Meanwhile, our questions go to the true Nepali citizens is that whether we want to omit our glorious history, culture, religion, and identity! If we are committed to saving our nation’s identity and our won identity with dignity, let’s make success the present movement!
