Kathmandu, 13 October: The high-level taskforce formed by the government has begun the overall study of the country’s energy sector. The four-member taskforce comprised of Energy Minster BarshaMan Pun, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekh Raj Bhatta, Finance Minister and the Vice Chairman of National Planning Commission Pushpa Raj Kandel. Currently the portfolio of Ministry of Finance is looked after by the Prime Minister KP Oli himself.
The taskforce is assigned to submit the policy-level recommendations on energy sector by studying the available power supplies and under-construction hydropower projects which will unveil policies for the implementation based on the taskforce’s recommendations and other issues.
