The unfolding of the gruesome murder of a man, whose torso was found packed in a suitcase on the road of the dense settlement of Gongabu and his legs and head 300 metres away from the first scene, has revealed that Nepali women could also commit heinous crime.

After police completed its investigation and identified the body, it did not take much time for police track the murderer. She was a Chitwan woman, and she had committed the whole crime all alone!

After finding the body along with its missing head and legs, crime division and the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu initiated a joint investigation.

Police found the murdered man was 45-year-old Krishna Bahadur Bohora of Rolpa, who had been staying at a hotel in Gongabu for the past eight months.

When police started tracing the individuals in contact with Bohora around Kathmandu, they came to know about a woman and started searching for her.

The search led police to the flat of the woman at Navajyoti Marga, the same area where the torso was found. The police found weapons used to chop off Bohora’s body in the flat. They found a hammer, a sharp weapon, gloves soaked in blood and a shawl used for strangulation. Police also found a wrapper of sleeping tablets.

The suspect who had been hiding in Chitwan was arrested with the help of Chitwan District Police Office on Monday and brought to Kathmandu. Police identified the arrested woman as 37-year-old Kalpana Mudvari (Poudel), a resident of Ward 7 of Kalika Municipality, Chitwan.

Mudvari, a housewife, had been living at Navjyoti Marga and worked for television serials. Police found out that Poudel had known Bohora via Facebook around four years ago. Bohora had also been visiting Mudvari at her flat frequently.

During the investigation, the police also found that Bohora had opened a Facebook account of Mudvari by keeping her picture and was blackmailing her.

On Saturday, Bohora had left for Mudvari’s house on a scooter from the hotel he had been staying in. Mudvari served Bohora with curd, beaten rice, meat and alcohol.

Mudvari had mixed five sleeping tablets in the curd. After he fell unconscious, she blew the hammer on his testes and strangulated to make sure that he died. She then took Bohora to the bathroom and chopped his head and legs off so that she could dispose of it easily.

Mudvari packed the body parts in a black suitcase later, threw it on the roadside and returned home. Later, in around midnight, she threw legs and head a little farther. When she saw police with a dog named Jojo near her home the next day, she then contacted an ambulance driver she knew and fled to Chitwan evading the police investigating into the case.
