Kathmandu, 8 November: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said Kalapani is Nepal’s territory. Saying he was informed about the placement of Nepal’s some places within India’s territory, he said, “Encroachment of an inch of Nepal’s territory will not be tolerable. Kalapani is ours. If the area is placed in India’s map, this will be corrected through diplomatic efforts. Friendship is one thing, but border encroachment cannot be tolerated,” he said at an event organised at Pancheshwar rural municipality in the district targeting ‘Visit Nepal Year, 2020’.
The Minister’s statement comes at a time when public pressure mounted following the placement of Nepal’s territory, Kalapani and Lipulekh Pass, in India’s new political map issued recently.
In another context, Minister Gyawali said efforts were on to strike a consensus to move forward work on the stalled Pancheshwar Project. India is close to reach a consensus to build a concrete bridge at Jhulaghat transit in Baitadi bordering with India, he said. “We are holding discussions with Minister of External Affairs of India S Jaishankar on this matter. The festival aims to contribute to the development of tourism of the area and industries, said chairperson of the rural municipality, Gorakh Bahadur Chand.
