Kathmandu, 13 October: The Home Ministry of the Indian Federal Government has stated that people with Nepali origin residing in Assam are not Nepalis but Indians.
The Home Ministry has sent directives to the Assam State Government on Wednesday, 10 October stating that those Nepali origin people are not Nepalis but Indians.
The central Home Ministry has restricted from publishing any notice blaming them as foreigners by the State Government legal authority.
Earlier, the Assam legal authority had published notice categorizing Nepali speaking people in Assam as “D Voter” (suspicious voter) and giving them various kind of trouble.
Nepali speaking people in Assam have felt a great relief from the central government’s decision, reports Kantipur daily.
