People exchanging new banknotes on footpath by paying commission

Kathmandu, October 16: People are exchanging banknotes for Dashain on the footpath at Ratna Park in Kathmandu. They can be seen exchanging old notes for new and crisp banknotes in denominations of Rs. 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 by paying an additional fee (commission) to vendors, reports Ratopati Online.

The vendors set up stalls along the footpath, exchange new and crisp banknotes after queuing for them, and sell them on the streets during the Dashain festival. This practice makes it convenient for people who do not have time to stand in line or find the process troublesome, while also providing the vendors involved in exchanging banknotes with some extra income.
