Dark clouds of uncertainty hang over Nepal’s politics: Lingden

Kathmandu, Oct 14: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has said dark clouds of uncertainty hang over Nepal’s politics, claiming his party is the only force capable of offering the country a way forward.

Addressing the Kathmandu district convention of the Nepal Sanatan Dharma Sanskriti Organisation, Lingden said other political parties were heading toward failure and the RPP must take the lead.

He said traditional ways of working would no longer strengthen the party and urged everyone, from leaders to grassroots members, to change. He called for restructuring the organisation through the upcoming general convention to prepare it to confront the country’s challenges and lead the nation.

Lingden said the RPP could not grow by relying on its existing, limited membership. The party must open its doors to everyone, he said, adding that expanding its organisation and conducting effective political activities were necessary to advance its core agenda of restoring the monarchy and Nepal’s status as a Hindu state.

“Nepal’s politics has entered a dark tunnel. As all political parties head toward failure, if any force remains capable of giving the country direction and a way forward, it is the RPP,” he said.

He said the party could not achieve its goals unless it developed into a party of the broader public.

Calling the upcoming convention an opportunity to reorganise the RPP, Lingden urged leaders and members to prepare for it and adopt a new approach.
