RSP MP Sunar alleged to be involved in sexually exploiting a woman

Kathmandu, October 13: A controversial scandal involving Khagendra Sunar, a lawmaker from the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has come to light.

Audio recordings allegedly containing evidence that he sexually exploited a woman on the promise of marriage, made an obscene video of her and blackmailed her have surfaced. In one of the audio conversations, the woman is heard saying, “You made a nude video of me, and I endured it. But why do you keep tormenting me like this?”

The online edition of Jana Aastha weekly reported the incident on Monday, stating that it had obtained four audio recordings in which lawmaker Sunar allegedly uses obscene and abusive language, demands money from the woman and threatens to “kill her and drink her blood” if she refuses to pay.

The language used by Sunar in the audio clips is extremely abusive. According to the conversations, the woman initially says that she had to deactivate her Facebook account because of the stress she was experiencing. In response, Sunar allegedly warns her not to deactivate the account, saying, “Just wait and see how I drink your blood today, you [abusive expletive]!”

The woman is then heard saying, “I tried, but it didn’t work.” Sunar reportedly becomes even angrier and threatens her, saying, “Why did you deactivate it? If it hasn’t been reactivated by the time I arrive this evening, just wait and see what happens!”

The woman speaks in a subdued and conciliatory tone. The audio recordings also reportedly reveal that Sunar instructed the woman, who is a former minister of state in Bagmati Province, to resign immediately.

Repeating his threatening and obscene abuse, Sunar allegedly says, “By the time I arrive, submit your resignation to your parliamentary party. Do you understand or not? Your end is approaching, just wait!”

The woman replies fearfully, “I understand.” She then asks, “You made a nude video of me, and I endured it. But why do you keep tormenting me like this?”

The woman goes on to say, “You call me an old woman, but you constantly beat me, hit me, threaten to cut me up and kill me, make nude videos of me and subject me to all kinds of torment. You beat me when I refuse to give you money. How long am I supposed to endure all this?”

The audio conversation then appears to turn to a dispute over money. Lawmaker Sunar allegedly says, “I need it by this evening. You’ll have the money by 8 p.m., won’t you? Hey, are you listening? You’ll bring it this evening, won’t you?”

The woman responds fearfully, “All right.”

Following the release of the audio recordings containing the alleged threats and abusive language, calls for action against Sunar have intensified. Many people have argued that he should not be allowed to continue serving as a member of Parliament.
