Kathmandu, Oct 6: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has said anyone who leaks confidential information and betrays the country and their organisation will face legal action.
His remarks came after the Home Ministry suspended Armed Police Force Additional Inspector General Banshi Raj Dahal on Monday evening over allegations that he leaked confidential information. A committee has also been formed to investigate the allegations against him.
Commenting on Dahal’s suspension, Gurung wrote on social media that no one who deliberately breaches confidentiality entrusted to them by the state and betrays the country and their organisation would be spared.
“Anyone who deliberately betrays the country and the organisation by breaching confidentiality entrusted by the state will not be granted immunity. They will be brought before the law,” Gurung wrote.
The home minister said he had been observing the unauthorised disclosure of confidential information for a long time.
“I have long been observing a tendency among some officials and employees holding positions of responsibility at the Home Ministry and its subordinate agencies to forget the obligations of their positions and leak confidential or sensitive information to unauthorised individuals or agencies,” he wrote.
