KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has pledged his country’s support for Nepal’s recovery and reconstruction after the floods.
Albanese committed after meeting Prime Minister Balendra Shah on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Thursday local time.
“As Nepal recovers from the devastating floods and the losses they have caused, Australia stands with its people during this time of grief and rebuilding,” he wrote on Facebook after the meeting.
Albanese said he had conveyed Australia’s deepest condolences to those affected by the floods and briefed Shah on the assistance Australia has provided so far. He also sought information about Australian citizens who remain missing in Nepal.
“We will continue working with Nepal to deliver assistance where it is needed most,” Albanese said.
