Kathmandu, Nov 1: Another weather system has developed over the Bay of Bengal and is currently a low-pressure area, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The system is expected to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a deep depression over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal by midday today (November 1). It is then very likely to develop into a severe cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal by tomorrow (November 2), the department said.
The system is very likely to cross the south Andhra Pradesh coast as a severe cyclonic storm on Tuesday (November 3).
Its impact could bring further rainfall to some parts of India, said Dr Binod Pokhrel, associate professor at Tribhuvan University’s Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
“Another weather system forming over the Bay of Bengal could bring more rain and cause problems in some parts of India,” he wrote on Facebook.
However, he said the system is unlikely to move towards Nepal or bring rainfall to the country.
“For Nepal, there is some relief. All the models available so far indicate that the system is unlikely to move towards Nepal or cause rainfall here,” he said.
The remnants of Cyclone Arnab, which recently developed over the Bay of Bengal, had brought rain to many parts of Nepal and heavy snowfall in the high hills and Himalayan regions.
