Kathmandu, October 17: Journalist Kishor Shrestha, who was arrested following a complaint filed by artist Himesh Pant, has been released after the two parties signed a settlement agreement.
Police arrested Shrestha from his residence in Bagdol, Nakhu, Lalitpur, early this morning.
Shrestha had published a report on Janastha Online, the news portal he is associated with, concerning allegations that artist Pant had unlawfully seized another person’s property. Objecting to the report, Pant filed a complaint with the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police.
According to a source at the Bureau, the two parties held discussions for three hours. Following the talks, they signed a settlement agreement, after which Shrestha was allowed to return home.
According to the agreement, Pant will not post anything defamatory about Shrestha on social media, and the issue concerning the report published on the online portal will be referred to the Press Council for investigation.
