Probe panel recommends dismissal of suspended APF AIG Dahal

Kathmandu, Oct 9: A probe committee has recommended the dismissal of suspended Armed Police Force (APF) Additional Inspector General Banshiraj Dahal. Dahal was suspended on Asoj 19.

The investigation committee, headed by APF AIG Anjani Kumar Pokharel, recommended that Dahal be dismissed from service. The committee submitted its report to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday.

According to Home Ministry sources, the investigation found that Dahal had been in contact with Inam Sapkota of Jhapa, who is currently under investigation by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation.

The probe found that Dahal had sent Sapkota information via WhatsApp concerning the movements of Prime Minister Balen Shah.

Home Ministry sources said preparations are underway to dismiss Dahal.

“It has been established that information about the movement of the country’s chief executive was provided to an unauthorized person,” a high level source said. “This has been confirmed, and preparations are underway for his dismissal.”
