Nepal, Brazil pledge to deepen cooperation as diplomatic ties mark 50 years

Kathmandu, Oct 6: Nepal and Brazil have marked 50 years of diplomatic relations, with the foreign ministers of the two countries pledging to strengthen bilateral cooperation and partnership further.

Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal and his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira exchanged congratulatory messages on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Brasilia, the two ministers expressed their commitment to taking Nepal-Brazil cooperation and partnership to a new level. They agreed to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest and further deepen bilateral relations.

The foreign ministries of Nepal and Brazil are also preparing for the next meeting of the Bilateral Consultation Mechanism, which will be hosted by the Nepal government in Kathmandu.

Both ministers praised the role played by their diplomatic missions in each other’s capitals in advancing shared priorities.

Khanal commended Brazil’s social and economic achievements and praised its leadership on climate change. He also appreciated Brazil’s role in strengthening the Global South’s voice.

Khanal expressed confidence that relations between Nepal and Brazil would continue to expand and deepen at both bilateral and multilateral forums.

Brazilian Foreign Minister Vieira said Nepal and Brazil share a strong partnership based on friendship, mutual trust and common values.
