Heavy petroleum price increment, yet, NOC not to increase retail price until upcoming festival

Kathmandu, October 1: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has decided to keep the current retail prices of petroleum products unchanged despite receiving higher fuel prices from India.

The corporation said it decided not to raise prices immediately in view of the interests of consumers and the upcoming festive season.

According to the NOC, under the new price list, the price of petrol has increased by Rs. 20.44 per litre, diesel by Rs. 20.21 per litre, kerosene by Rs. 15.96 per litre and aviation fuel by Rs. 18.66 per litre.

Similarly, the price of LPG has increased by Rs. 81.32 per cylinder, the corporation said.

The NOC said it had decided to maintain the existing retail prices despite the increase in fuel prices from India so that consumers would not face an additional financial burden during the festive season.

However, keeping the prices unchanged will impose an additional financial burden on the corporation.

According to the NOC, failure to adjust the prices will result in a loss of approximately Rs. 3.2038 billion every fortnight.
