Kathmandu: Chief Justice Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma and Nepal Police Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki held a meeting at the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
According to a senior Supreme Court official, IGP Karki visited the court to meet the Chief Justice, and the two held discussions for around 35 minutes.
“We do not know what they discussed,” the official said.
The meeting comes amid controversy over the police action involving former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana. Police have maintained that Rana was taken to a police office for his protection after authorities received information about a security threat against him.
However, the Supreme Court’s full court has described the police action as “arbitrary.”
IGP Karki visited the Supreme Court following the statement issued by the full court over the incident.
According to Supreme Court sources, Chief Justice Sharma and IGP Karki discussed the incident during Tuesday’s meeting.
