Kathmandu, Sept 29: Continuous rainfall, floods and landslides have severely disrupted major highways and feeder roads across the country, with many routes remaining completely blocked, according to the latest Nepal Police update.
In Bagmati Province, the Kanti Lokpath and Tikabhairav Chharghare road section in Lalitpur have been completely blocked by landslides. On the Prithvi Highway in Dhading, debris has been cleared at Krishna Bhir and Chalise, allowing one-way traffic. However, travel in Dhading and surrounding areas has been restricted until further notice due to safety concerns.
All major highways in Rasuwa remain closed due to flooding. The Hetauda Bhainse Bhimphedi Phakhel Kathmandu road in Makwanpur is completely blocked by landslides, while one-way traffic has resumed on the BP Highway in Kavre.
In Solukhumbu, Koshi Province, authorities have restricted all non-essential vehicular and pedestrian movement on the Siddhicharan Highway and other roads from 8 pm to 6 am due to the possibility of heavy rainfall.
The road network in Gandaki Province has also been badly affected. The Chame Besisahar road in Manang, Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung, Beni Jomsom and Beni Darbang roads in Myagdi remain completely blocked.
Traffic has also come to a standstill on the Jomsom Korala road in Mustang, Maldhunga Beni road in Parbat, Kaligandaki Corridor in Nawalparasi East, Mid Hill Highway in Lamjung and the Prithvi Highway at Ghasikuwa in Tanahun due to landslides.
Similarly, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Gulmi, Lumbini Province, remains blocked.
In Karnali Province, landslides have completely obstructed the Karnali Highway at Gagane Khola in Kalikot and the Nagma Gamgadhi road leading to Mugu.
Police and local administrations are working to reopen the affected roads. Nepal Police has urged travellers to check the latest road conditions in their respective areas before starting their journeys.
