Baglung, Sept 29: The death toll from floods and landslides in Baglung has risen to 12, with one person still missing.
Twelve people have been killed after landslides buried houses in different parts of the district over the past three days.
Two people died after a landslide buried a house at Sip in Tarakhola Rural Municipality 5, according to the District Police Office.
Superintendent of Police Phanindra Prasai said 55-year-old Dil Bahadur Pun and his mother-in-law, 79-year-old Naramaya Roka of Malika Rural Municipality 2 in Myagdi, were killed in the landslide.
Pun’s wife, two sons and daughter-in-law sustained minor injuries in the incident, he said.
The latest deaths brought the districtwide toll from disasters triggered by incessant rainfall to 12, while one person remains missing.
One person was killed in Tarakhola on Saturday. On Sunday, four people died and one went missing in Taman Khola Rural Municipality, while five others were killed in Nisikhola Rural Municipality.
