Kathmandu, Sept 27: At least six people have been killed, and two others injured as floods and landslides caused by continuous rainfall struck several parts of the country over the past three days.
Nepal Police said the rain-related disasters, reported since September 24 (Asoj 8), have affected four provinces. Bagmati and Lumbini provinces have recorded two deaths each, while one person each has died in Gandaki and Karnali provinces.
Two people injured in separate incidents were rescued and taken to nearby health facilities for treatment.
As rainfall continues to raise the risk of floods and landslides, security agencies and local authorities have intensified rescue and evacuation operations in vulnerable areas.
Police said 407 people stranded or facing immediate danger have been rescued and transferred to safer locations. The operations have been carried out in coordination with local governments, security agencies, other organisations and local communities.
Authorities are also working to evacuate residents from settlements considered vulnerable to further landslides and flooding.
Rescue teams remain deployed in affected areas, while efforts are underway to recover property buried under landslide debris and assist displaced families, according to police.
