Parbat, Sept 27: Floodwaters from the Kaligandaki River entered a settlement in Pharse of Jaljala Rural Municipality 8 in Parbat, sweeping away around 80 houses.
Police said local residents moved to safer areas after floodwaters began entering the settlement on Saturday night. Authorities have yet to confirm whether there have been any casualties.
After receiving reports that other houses were also at high risk, a joint team from the Armed Police Force Nepal’s No. 25 Chandika Battalion in Parbat and Nepal Police was deployed to the area. Security personnel have been helping residents move to safer locations and relocate their belongings.
APF Deputy Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa said detailed information about the extent of the damage was still awaited.
Electricity and telephone services have also been disrupted in the affected area, making communication difficult.
