Kathmandu, September 25: Most parts of the country are experiencing cloudy weather, with continuous rainfall under the influence of a low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal. Water levels in rivers and streams are rising due to the rainfall, while landslides have obstructed roads at several places.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has divided all 77 districts into three categories based on the risk of floods and landslides associated with the rainfall. The risk levels have been classified using red, orange and yellow colour codes. Accordingly, 25 districts have been placed in the red category, indicating very high risk.
As these districts face a high risk of floods and landslides, the authority has recommended complete suspension of vehicular movement both during the day and at night.
Similarly, vehicular movement in the 29 districts classified under the orange category will be suspended at night. During the daytime, the respective District Monsoon Response Command Posts will make necessary decisions based on the prevailing situation.
The 23 districts classified under the yellow category have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
