Kathmandu, September 20: Twenty-four-year-old Niraj Kumar Yadav, who was injured in a shooting in Dewanganj, Sunsari, has undergone surgery and the bullet has been removed from his body.
Yadav, who was injured in the shooting on Saturday evening, is receiving treatment at Nobel Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar. Chandra Bahadur Khadka, information officer at the District Police Office, Sunsari, said the bullet was removed during surgery performed today.
Yadav was shot in his right thigh below the waist. He was injured in the shooting in front of the Laxminarayan Temple at BP Chowk in Madhyaharsahi, Dewanganj Rural Municipality-1, while he was returning home by motorcycle from Harinagar Bazaar.
Following the incident, police arrested 18-year-old Bishnu Kumar Yadav and 26-year-old Jay Krishna Yadav, both from Dewanganj Rural Municipality-2. Information officer Khadka said police were searching for other people involved in the incident.
According to police, a preliminary investigation has found that the shooting was the result of a grudge stemming from a dispute among youths over a young woman.
The District Police Office, Sunsari, said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
