
Kathmandu, September 12: Senior journalist, former chief editor of Gorkhapatra daily and noted patriotic writer Yubraj Gautam passed away this morning at the APF Hospital in Balambu.
According to sources, Gautam had been suffering from a respiratory problem and had taken a medical appointment for Sunday. However, when his health condition deteriorated on Saturday morning, he was rushed to the APF Hospital, where he was declared dead.
According to family sources, his daughter, who is currently in London, is arriving in Kathmandu on Sunday, and his last rites will be performed on the same day.
Gautam was known for his strong advocacy of patriotic issues and never compromised on matters concerning the nation’s interests.
He was also a strong advocate of the restoration of the monarchy, which he believed was essential for safeguarding the nation’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Of late, he had been engaged in writing and publishing a book on the late King Birendra.
