Kathmandu, September 10: Health and Food Hygiene Minister Nisha Mehta has expressed serious concern over the sensitive incident in which a pregnant woman was forced to give birth outside the premises of Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Hospital in Rajbiraj.
Minister Mehta said that every citizen has a constitutional right to receive timely and appropriate treatment, respect and humane care upon reaching a health institution, and that the ministry has taken the incident extremely seriously.
The ministry has immediately sent a special investigation team to Rajbiraj to ascertain the facts and conduct an impartial investigation into the incident. The ministry has also sought an official explanation from the hospital, citing serious negligence on the part of the hospital administration.
The ministry has pledged that if any health worker or employee is found negligent or held responsible during the investigation, strict action will be taken in accordance with the prevailing law. Minister Mehta reiterated that the ministry remains firmly committed to safeguarding citizens’ right to health and maintaining public trust in health services.
