Kathmandu, Sept 9: The flow of the Kimrong Khola, which was blocked by a landslide in Annapurna Rural Municipality 11 of Kaski, has resumed. A landslide blocked the river at around 8 pm on Tuesday.
According to Kaski Assistant Chief District Officer Chitrangal Baral, the blocked river has opened up on its own.
“Information had come that a landslide had blocked the Kimrong Khola at around 8 pm. However, when we contacted residents early this morning, we learned that the river had already resumed flowing. Locals told us that the water flow cleared during the night and the river has now returned to its normal state,” Baral said.
Baral said the immediate risk had passed as the river had returned to its normal flow. He said a team of police was dispatched to the site at around 4 am on Wednesday.
According to Annapurna Rural Municipality Chairman Bishnu Bahadur KC, the river gradually began flowing again from one side of the blockage at around midnight.
“The flow gradually resumed from one side of the area blocked by the landslide around midnight. The river is now flowing normally, so the immediate risk has passed,” KC said.
Following the sudden landslide and blockage last night, residents living along the Kimrong Khola and Modi Khola river corridors had been urged to remain alert.
