Kathmandu, Sept 7: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane held a telephone conversation with United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Rubio initiated the call with Lamichhane.
During the conversation, Rubio expressed deep sorrow and condolences over the loss of lives caused by the devastating Bhotekoshi flood. He also expressed solidarity with the Nepali people and the Government of Nepal at a time of crisis.
In response, Lamichhane informed Rubio that the Nepal government had mobilised all available resources for ongoing search, rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas. He assured Rubio that the government remained fully committed to ensuring the safety of both Nepali citizens and foreign nationals in Nepal.
Lamichhane thanked the US government for the goodwill and support it had shown during the difficult situation.
Rubio, meanwhile, said the United States remained ready to provide additional assistance to the Nepal government as needed.
