Kathmandu, September 3: Following the damage to the road at Krishnabhir along the Prithvi Highway, where the Trishuli River has eroded and cut through the road, a new route has now been designated for freight vehicles heading to Kathmandu.
A meeting held at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development on Wednesday decided that 12-wheel freight vehicles would operate via the Tribhuvan Highway from Bhaise in Makwanpur to ensure the uninterrupted supply of food to the Kathmandu Valley.
The decision allows 12-wheel trucks to operate from Bhaise via Palung to Naubise. From Naubise, these vehicles will be allowed to reach Nagdhunga via Patleban.
When traveling from Kathmandu to collect goods, 12-wheel vehicles will operate via Ekantakuna in Lalitpur, Champi and Tikabhairav, then along the Kantipath to Hetauda. LPG gas bullet tankers will not be allowed to operate on either of the two routes. Trucks carrying refilled gas cylinders, however, will be allowed to operate via the Tribhuvan Highway.
