Kathmandu, Aug 29: Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has announced plans to build 20 houses for families affected by the Bhotekoshi floods in Rasuwa.
In a social media post on Saturday, Prasai said the focus during a disaster should be on helping affected families rather than criticising Prime Minister Balendra Shah and his government.
“This is not the time to criticise Balen and his government. The country belongs to everyone. This is the time to support the Balen government,” he wrote.
Saying the lives lost in the flood cannot be brought back, Prasai urged everyone to help survivors meet their basic needs, including food, shelter and clothing.
“The dead are gone, and their suffering cannot be undone. Let us all work to provide food, shelter and clothing for the families who survived. We have decided to build 20 houses. What are you going to do?” he wrote.
Prasai said political blame and accusations should take a back seat during a disaster, with priority given to relief, rehabilitation and housing for affected families.
