Kathmandu, AUG 26: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has urged everyone to contribute from their respective locations to rescue, search for and provide relief to citizens affected by the floods in Rasuwa.
A meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management was held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Wednesday morning.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shah received a briefing from the Nepali Army on the damage caused by the floods.
After the meeting, he instructed the concerned authorities on the next steps and urged everyone to engage in rescue, search and relief operations.
The flood that entered the Bhotekoshi River from the Tibet region has caused extensive damage in the Timure area. Authorities have warned that the flood could flow through the Bhotekoshi into the Trishuli River and affect riverside areas as far as Dhading and Chitwan.
Additional personnel from the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have been deployed to the affected areas for rescue and search operations.
Two Nepali Army helicopters have reached Rasuwa and are carrying out rescue efforts. An Army emergency medical rescue team has also been deployed to support the district hospital in Trishuli, along with an Mi 17 helicopter.
Rescue teams from the Dhunche and Trishuli barracks have been deployed to the affected areas. Skilled disaster management personnel from the Army’s No. 6 Brigade Headquarters in Galchi have also been mobilised. Authorities are collecting details of the damage.
The Armed Police Force said a large number of personnel have also been deployed for rescue operations from the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 19 Battalion in Nuwakot, the UN Peacekeeping Training Academy in Kakani, the Dhading Battalion, the Disaster Management Base in Adamghat and No. 17 Battalion in Chitwan.
