KATHMANDU, Aug 16: Nepal Oil Corporation will distribute cooking gas from seven additional locations in the Kathmandu Valley on Sunday to ease shortages and meet the needs of consumers who have been unable to obtain LPG from regular dealers.
The corporation said consumers can buy gas from designated sales points between 11 am and 5 pm by presenting their citizenship certificate or national identity card.
The outlets include the NOC premises in Teku, the Animal Services Branch in Chapali, Budhanilkantha, the Radhaswami premises in Kirtipur, the New Bazaar Judo Hall, Tarkeshwar Municipality, Chandragiri Municipality and the National Tuberculosis Centre in Thimi.
Several brands will be available at each location. The Teku outlet will sell Nepal, HP, Everest, Sugam, Shriram and Sagar brands, while the Chapali outlet will have Nepal, HP and Bhanu.
The Kirtipur centre will distribute Nepal, HP, Everest, Shree Krishna, Sai Baba and Shreemaya brands.
At New Bazaar, consumers can purchase Nepal, HP and Om brands. The Tarkeshwar Municipality outlet will sell Nepal and HP, while the Chandragiri Municipality office will distribute Popular, Nepal, HP and Shreemaya.
The Thimi centre will offer Nepal, HP, Surya, Sagar, Everest, Sugam and STC brands.
NOC said LPG imports have remained regular and asked dealers to continue selling gas normally to prevent unnecessary pressure on designated distribution centres.
The move follows Saturday’s distribution of 6,802 LPG cylinders to consumers facing urgent needs across the Kathmandu Valley. Sales took place at the Teku premises, the Transport Office in Chabahil, Radhaswami premises in Kirtipur and Basundhara, and the former District Administration Office premises in Babarmahal.
Some brands ran out of cylinders during Saturday’s distribution. NOC said consumers who had already reached the sales centres and received coupons would be given priority when gas is distributed today.
