Nepal Telecom profit rises 47.6% to Rs 8.86 billion

Kathmandu, Aug 15: Nepal Telecom has posted a net profit of Rs 8.86 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025/26, up 47.58 per cent from the same period last fiscal year.

The state-owned telecom company had recorded a net profit of Rs 6.007 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024/25. Its net profit increased by Rs 2.858 billion during the review period.

The company’s total operating income also increased, reaching Rs 34.9504 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025/26. This represents an increase of Rs 1.0559 billion, or 3.12 per cent, from Rs 33.8945 billion recorded during the same period last fiscal year.

Likewise, Nepal Telecom’s total income reached Rs 39.1996 billion, up Rs 1.0115 billion, or 2.65 per cent, from Rs 38.1881 billion in the corresponding period last fiscal year.

The company’s profit before tax stood at Rs 13.2647 billion, an increase of Rs 3.4145 billion, or 34.66 per cent, compared with Rs 9.8502 billion recorded in the same period last fiscal year.

Similarly, EBITDA reached Rs 20.4801 billion, up Rs 1.9841 billion, or 10.73 per cent, from Rs 18.496 billion in the corresponding period last fiscal year.

The company’s annualised earnings per share stood at Rs 49.25.

According to Nepal Telecom, its interest income declined as interest rates gradually fell. Compared with the fourth quarter of last fiscal year, interest income dropped by around Rs 861.9 million, or 22.88 per cent.

Revenue growth was mainly supported by income from GSM services. The company said GSM revenue increased by Rs 645.4 million, or 2.28 per cent, compared with the fourth quarter of last fiscal year.

Nepal Telecom said that, as the country’s national telecommunications service provider, it continues to expand services and improve service quality even in remote and difficult areas where operating costs are high, and returns are relatively low.
