Kailali, Aug 14: CPN leader Khagaraj Bhatta has been appointed the new Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province.
Bhatta submitted his claim for the post to Province Chief Nazir Miya on Friday morning with the support of the CPN UML. Province Chief Miya appointed Bhatta as chief minister shortly after he submitted the claim.
Bhatta said the oath of office and secrecy would be administered at 3 pm on Friday at the office of Province Chief Miya.
On Thursday evening, Province Chief Miya had called on members of the Provincial Assembly who could command a majority with the support of two or more parties to stake their claim for the chief minister’s post under Article 168(2) of the Constitution.
