NRB clarifies NIMB’s financial condition is satisfactory; depositors need not worry

Kathmandu, August 13: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has clarified that the current financial condition of Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited (NIMB) is satisfactory.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, the central bank said it had taken note of the filing of a charge sheet at the Kathmandu District Court against the bank’s directors and Chief Executive Officer. It added that NRB is closely monitoring the bank’s operations and management.

According to NRB, the bank’s liquidity position and key indicators of financial strength remain satisfactory and are in compliance with the prescribed regulatory standards. Therefore, the central bank clarified that there is currently no situation that would cause any disruption to the bank’s day-to-day operations.

As the case is pending before the Kathmandu District Court, NRB said it would hold further discussions and seek legal advice, taking into account the nature, duration and seriousness of the case, as well as the bank’s operational condition.

The central bank also stated that, if necessary, it would take appropriate action in accordance with the law regarding the board of directors, senior management and the operation of the bank.

NRB’s clarification conveys that, although the case is under judicial consideration, there is currently no immediate concern regarding the bank’s financial health or its daily banking operations.

Meanwhile, the NIMB management has stated that there is no reason for depositors or customers to be concerned about the case filed against the bank. According to the bank, all services and operations are continuing normally, as they have in the past.
